How It Works
If you’ve never studied piano before, we’ll start from the very beginning with the layout of the keyboard, finger numbers, and a few simple songs on the black keys, before going more in-depth with the music alphabet, the staff, and the basics of music notation. Many adult beginners can play “Ode to Joy” by the end of their very first lesson.
If you’ve studied piano before and are returning to it after years away, or just looking for a different approach, we’ll begin by figuring out where you are now and come up with a course of action for the first few weeks. From there, it’s up to you how far you go!
A Proven Track Record
With more than ten years of teaching experience, Ezra Donner has helped students at all levels of ability from young beginners to advanced high school students and adults. His students have performed in festivals such as the Sonata/Sonatina Festival and GVSU 20th & 21st Century Music Festival and participated successfully in MTNA Student Achievement Testing and National Federation of Music Clubs competitions.
About The Studio
Ezra’s studio is conveniently located in the Historic District of Ypsilanti, blocks from Depot Town and the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Lessons are offered after school on weekdays and on weekends, and free street parking is available near the side entrance to the studio.
New in-person students receive a free trial lesson and music tote bag with pencil, metronome, and weekly assignment journal when they sign up for a lesson package!
Virtual lessons are also offered on Zoom for those who prefer.
Lesson Packages
4 x 30-minute lessons $120
A great choice for younger students and for those who want to see if piano is right for them. Most popular package.
4 x 45-minute lessons $180
Recommended for adult learners and students with some prior experience. A fast-paced, yet more in-depth lesson than 30 minutes.
4 x 60-minute lessons $240
The most in-depth lesson experience. Recommended for teens and adults who are most serious about their musical studies.
